About the Artist
Sofia Andersson is a Swedish abstract painter whose quiet, light-filled work draws on the colours and calm of the Scandinavian landscape — pale winter light, weathered limestone, linen, and the soft greys of the Baltic coast.
Trained in Stockholm, Sofia developed her practice around the Nordic idea of lagom — balance and restraint — gradually moving from detailed drawing toward soft, atmospheric abstraction in a deliberately limited palette.
Her paintings have been shown in galleries across Stockholm and Copenhagen, and are held in private interiors throughout Scandinavia, Europe, and North America.
Artistic Approach
Sofia works in thin, translucent layers that she builds and partly removes, letting earlier tones breathe through the final surface. The result is a soft, almost mist-like depth that changes gently with the light in a room.
Using acrylic and light texture paste on canvas, she favours broad, calm fields of warm beige, ivory, greige, and pale greige-blue, with only the faintest contrasts. Each piece is hand-painted, so subtle variations in brushwork and tone make every canvas slightly different.
